Three whole years!?

I've been dating Josh for three years now. This is my all time favorite photo of us, and being the cute people that we are, we have lots of cute ones. I won't make you suffer through all that preciousness, don't worry. Tonight we're going out! What better way to celebrate than with Subway and Zombieland!? I have no idea, but I could not be more excited.

Earlier today my friend Julia's status on Facebook said, "Rent a Puppy!? Only at college!?" And of course I immediately looked into renting a puppy. Some fraternity was renting puppies from the humane society for a fundraiser, and I think it's basically the greatest idea ever. Josh, being the lovely boyfriend that he is, bought us thirty minutes of puppy playtime with this cute lil' fella. Yes, his picture is bigger than Josh's, so
what!? I wish I'd gotten a better picture, but camera phones are poor quality and puppies are squirmy. We named him Milo for the half an hour he belonged to us. He got lots of belly rubs and smiles. It was the greatest anniversary gift EVER.

These are a few of my favorite things.

About being home that is.

Best fran.
Hilarious near death experiences with my sister.
My momma hen.
Bella Boo.
Noli Bear pretending she's a person. And people treating her like a person.
My record player. Chai woodwick candle! My whale sheets.

My favorite things in Springfield recently: Fall time, my new programmable coffee maker, getting a kick ass grade on my first math test, snuggle time, Halloween costume shopping, cute little 24 hour coffee shops, the most precious indie movie theater ever, getting to wear my new Ugg Cardy boots, pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks, and the fact that my best friends are coming to see me in two days! Ah!

Birthdays.

This weekend I went to Joplin to celebrate my lovely sister Jill's birthday. I bought her cowboy boots, a Tom Petty book, and an adorable little dish set from the flea market. Giving perfect gifts for my favorite people is my absolute favorite thing. We hung out. Explored the wonderful city of Joplin, Missouri. Josh sang some Salt-N-Pepa. I told my mom about his Schwans man cougar fantasy. He got very defensive. We ate at Olive Garden. Jill got free wine. It was the most amazing twenty four hours I've had in a long time.

Today was my RA, Abby's, twenty first birthday as well. I made her chocolate kahlua cupcakes. Last night, Abby, Lindsey, and I went tie dyed some more shirts, walked to Break Time for a delicious cappuccino, and saw Away We Go for free. It was beyond adorable. I hope my husband is someday like John Krasinski, or John Krasinski himself. I'm flexible.

Prior to wearing Jill's "Keep your hands off my buns!" apron.

Tonight my floormate Addison and I made puppy chow. It was an adventure, but it turned out amazing. We seriously discussed creating "College Cooking with Emily and Addison." Stay tuned. We hung out in Abby's adorable room and ate puppy chow. And made virgin Strawberry Daquiris and Pina Coladas. And talked and talked. And it was perfect.

From left: Liz, Addison, me, Abby, Adrianne, Amy, and Lindsey.

P.S. Mom, please be excited that this post is extraordinarily long due to lack of updates.

Sleepy Sunday!

Today I did laundry. Laundry in Hammons Hall takes about twelve hours. Not only do you have to wait at least thirty minutes for a dryer to open up, the dryers are so old school they take about two hours to dry your clothes. I made some nice friends. Josh had quite a time trying to put my duvet cover back on my duvet. He decided he wants to be a duvet cover for Halloween.
Josh, Josh's roommate, Brad, and I went to Chipotle for free burritos! I was so full! One of Amy's friends let us steal his HBO, so I got to watch the season finale of True Blood, it was incredible. As you can tell I've had such an eventful weekend. Not.

Full belly!

Turning Japanese.

Today I visited my lovely sister in Joplin to make sushi. It was an interesting experience, but a very fun one. Our soundtrack featured Turning Japanese of course. And we took plenty of politically incorrect pictures. Jill's going to be embarrassed I'm putting them on here. We went to Walmart, bought some orange rolls, and I ate like four due to lack of dinner in my belly. We took some silly pictures. I love having her close. I missed my sister.

P.S. School is good. I study sometimes.

Oh, sister.
John McCain came on tv. Jill said "YOOO JOHN!" right when I took the picture. Apparently I look disgusted when I see John McCain..
Teenage Angst!

Home.

I drove back to the 816 on Friday with Josh. We listened to old cds we made for each other. Josh knows every word to a DMX song, and it's hilarious. Then I got to see my Anna Bear! We had to park super far away, but we saw Weezer and Blink 182! It was everything I ever hoped and dreamed. And I still think Rivers Cuomo is the cutest man ever. He's just so little and precious!
Yesterday I went shopping with my daddy in Lawrence. We ate at a cute little Mexican restaurant. And we went to Love Garden, a record store. I found Regina Spektor and Common. I was happy.
We went to an antique store and I dug and dug and dug for some Tom Petty, but no such luck. I did get Elton John's greatist hits, which I already have, but it's all gross and won't play. Nothing is as gratifying as digging through piles and piles of ridiculous album artwork just to find something worth while. I love it.
My dad is so cool. On a boring Saturday afternoon he suggests going to Lawrence, which he knows I love. He listens to good music and quizzes me on classic rock. He laughs at my jokes. Except for when we jaywalked I said, "Rock Chalk Jaywalk!" He did not laugh. I love being home.

Thirsty Thursday.

I'm not really thirsty today. Especially for what everyone else in college is thirsty for. But apparently it's a really big deal and I was mocked for never hearing the term "Thirsty Thursday" before. Today was very relaxing. I've been in a horrible mood all week unfortunately. I dyed my hair today (see picture). We also discovered someone on our floor has swine flu. Katie called me and said "WE'RE GOING TO DIE!" She also texted me telling me to wash my hands and "stay safe champ!" I'm gonna go get a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, because it only comes once a year, and it's my favorite. And it will make me feel better.
